The principle of planetary gearboxes

Planetary gearboxes achieve speed reduction or acceleration through different configurations of planetary gears, sun gears, and external ring gears, offering high efficiency and suitability for various applications. For example:

Fixed ring gear, sun gear driving, planetary carrier driven: gear ratio between 2.5 and 5.

Fixed ring gear, planetary carrier driving, sun gear driven: gear ratio between 0.2 and 0.4.

Fixed sun gear, ring gear driving, planetary carrier driven: gear ratio between 1.25 and 1.67.

Fixed sun gear, planetary carrier driving, ring gear driven: gear ratio typically between 0.6 and 0.8.

Fixed planetary carrier, sun gear driving, ring gear driven: gear ratio typically between 1.5 and 4.

Fixed planetary carrier, ring gear driving, sun gear driven: gear ratio between 0.25 and 0.67.

Planetary carrier and ring gear combination, or sun gear and planetary carrier combination: gear ratio 1, all components rotate in the same direction.

Of the three elements, one element is active, while the other two elements remain in a free state; the rotational speed output of the other two elements is uncertain.
